The Eiffel Tower. La Tour Eiffel. Big metal thing in France. Big ugly metal thing in France. Whatever you call it, it's still there. I am writing this because apparently the Eiffel tower is amazing. But what if the French didn't want it built there? It wasn't even designed by a Frenchman. Turns out they didn't want it there, the majority of the population anyway. Sure, it brought tourists and people flocked to see the tower. People climb it, eat lunch in it. One artist said he ate lunch in La tour Eiffel everyday because it was the only place where he didn't have to look at it while he ate. So, turns out not all French are in love with this Parisian 'icon'. Think about it. What if someone plonked an ugly thing in your country and you were told it was now the symbol that represented you? You couldn't do anything about it.
So here we go, random stuff you didn't need to know about La Tour Eiffel:
-it was named after the engineer, Gustave Eiffel
-The address of the Eiffel Tower is Champe De Mars, 5 Avenue Anatole France, 75007, Paris, France
-The construction of the Eiffel Tower started 28th January, 1887
-It was founded in 1889, 2 years after construction started
-When it was built, it was the tallest building in the world
There we go, everything you needed to know. I'll be back soon with more random landmark facts. Maybe.
